The key to getting our nation’s debt under control is to get our economy firing on all cylinders again. To do that, we absolutely must create good-paying local jobs that families can depend on. We need to put people back to work and address the foreclosure crisis, which will help boost our local economy. Only then can we get our economy growing and help provide relief to the middle class.

We need to incentivize businesses to stay in our community, something that I have worked hard to do. I wrote the bill to end tax breaks for companies who send American jobs overseas. I have brought back federal resources to create thousands of local jobs – 900 alone at the brand new veterans’ medical facility right here in San Joaquin County.

Once people are back to work, we can address all of the challenges we face, growing our economy, and cutting the national debt. We need to address our deficit and balance our budget, but in the right way – while protecting Social Security and Medicare for the folks who have worked a lifetime to pay into them and earned them.
