Congressional Gridlock is the biggest obstacle to moving our nation and the economy forward. Congress must compromise, or we are doomed. The fiscal cliff we face is caused by a Congress that refuses to work with one another.

I recognize that good ideas for solving our major problems today exist in both major political parties. I will work across party lines to take these ideas from both sides and create realistic solutions. For example, I would both cut spending further and look for new revenue sources to reduce our national debt. I oppose efforts to turn Medicare into a voucher system. Instead, I would strengthen Medicare by attacking loopholes and payment structures that reward providers doing unnecessary procedures. Finally, I would work with city and county officials in my district to bring our tax dollars back to our district to create jobs and build up the economy in the foothills which is so desperately in need of help. This can be done without earmarks. The money has all ready been set aside to help rural communities across the country. It only takes a congressman willing to do his job, and bring that assistance back home to our district.

Whether America will travel another four years down the path of spending, borrowing and taxing that is rapidly taking us toward economic ruin or, or whether we will recover our uniquely American principles of individual liberty, personal responsibility and constitutionally limited government that once produced the most prosperous nation in the history of the world.
